There’s nothing ‘sweeter’ than a post-show treat and our Geniuses have found the place that will leave you wanting “s’more.” Schmackary’s, founded by Zachary “Schmackary” Schmal, has become the cookie staple of the theatre district. Conveniently located at 45th Street and 9th Avenue, Schmackary’s is in close proximity to 9 Broadway theatres including the Al Hirschfeld Theatre and the Booth Theatre.
In addition to several classic flavors such as Chocolate Chip and Funfetti, Schmackary’s also includes a rotating selection of specialty cookies. In fact, Schmackary’s menu changes daily! Sch’mores, Red Velvet, and Cookie Dough are among the line-up of cookies that you can choose from. Of course, just as the seasons change so do some of the available cookies. Each season, Schmackary’s bakes cookies inspired by the flavors of the season. Seasonal flavors for the Fall include Pumpkin Spice, Caramel Apple Crisp, Worms ‘n Dirt, and Rocky Road. Cookies are priced at $2.75 each with special group pricing as well (6 for $14, 12 for $25).
Schmackary’s prides itself on providing a warm, welcoming atmosphere for all of it’s patrons. There are several places to sit and cozy up during autumn and winter months while additional outdoor seating is provided. The staff is friendly, attentive, and more than willing to offer you their own personal cookie recommendation to help you choose your post-show treat. Given it’s prime location, don’t be surprised if you spot a few familiar Broadway faces when you make your visit to Schmackary’s. In fact, Schmackary’s often partners with Broadway professionals for events and special themed cookie. For example, in May 2015, the store hosted Broadway Bakes. Broadway stars like Audra McDonald, David Burtka, Megan Hilty, and Jeremy Jordan all volunteered to serve cookies behind the counter. 50% of proceeds from the event were donated to Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS. In 2015, Schmackary’s raised over $13,000 in support of the organization.
We recently featured Schmackary’s in our social media video series “#TGIGenius”. This weekly video series offers quick tips for your group’s next trip to Broadway.
