This past year brought us a lot of great theatre. There were heart-stoppers, tear-jerkers, and even shows that made us want to dance in our seats! But one musical stood out from the rest, taking home 11 Tony awards, selling out its entire house months in advance, and bringing fame to its songwriter and original title star. It’s a little musical called Hamilton – you may have heard of it?
We know that it’s nearly impossible to get tickets to this mega-hit musical phenomenon. But guess what? Something new has just popped onto the horizon that allows anyone and everyone to get a peek into what goes on inside the Richard Rodgers Theatre eight shows a week. And the best part? You don’t need a Hamilton ticket to get into this one!
Enter the Hamilton pop-up shop, presented by Bloomingdale’s, in association with the musical sensation. Located right across the street from the “Room Where it Happens” is the theatre aficionado’s, professional gift giver’s, and Hamilton superfan’s heaven. The shop features official clothing, books, and other merchandise from the show including a new line of t-shirts designed specifically for the shop’s opening! It “blew us all away”, and we think it will blow you away too!
The store, located in The Paramount Hotel at 235 W 46th St. between 8th Avenue and Broadway, opens everyday at 11:30am and shutters at 6:00pm on Sunday, 6:30pm on Mondays, 7:30pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays, and 8:30pm on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. So next time you “take a break” and head to the Great White Way, stop by and see what the shop has to offer! We promise you’ll leave very “satisfied”!
Check out the teaser trailer for Broadway-bound Amélie! Only one week until The Great Comet arrives on Broadway and we can hardly wait. We loved the show Off Broadway and we cannot wait to see the show at Broadway’s Imperial Theatre. In fact, the song “Dust and Ashes” was written specifically for the Broadway production. Take a listen now!
Inspired by a 70-page slice of War and Peace, this “vibrant, thrillingly imagined new musical” (NY Times) is “stunning and blazingly original” (Entertainment Weekly) and brings us just inches from Tolstoy’s brash young lovers as they light up Moscow in a “heaven-sent fireball” (NY Times) of romance and passion.

While we love new works, we can’t help but enjoy seeing a classic play or musical re-imagined in a revival. Broadway revivals introduce familiar shows to a brand new audience. Some revivals even stray drastically from the design and staging of their respective original productions. This fall, you can expect to see quite a few classics remounted on Broadway. Here are just a few shows you can get ready to ‘fall’ in love with all over again:
THE CHERRY ORCHARD
Roundabout Theatre Company presents a new production of The Cherry Orchard, Anton Chekhov’s masterpie
ce about a family on the edge of ruin—and a country on the brink of revolution. Simon Godwin (Associate Director at the National Theatre, The Royal Shakespeare Company’s Two Gentlemen of Verona) directs a fresh new adaptation by Tony Award® winner Stephen Karam (The Humans, Sons of the Prophet).
The story of Lyubov Ranevskaya (Academy Award® nominee Diane Lane) and her family’s return to their fabled orchard to forestall its foreclosure, The Cherry Orchard captures a people—and a world—in transition, and presents us with a picture of humanity in all its glorious folly. First produced in Moscow in 1904, The Cherry Orchard still stands as one of the great plays of the modern era. By turns tragic and funny, Roundabout’s new adaptation promises to breathe fresh life into this towering tale.
The Cherry Orchard will begin preview performances on September 15, 2016, and open officially on October 16, 2016.
This is a limited engagement through December 4, 2016 on Broadway at the American Airlines Theatre.
William Finn and James Lapine’s groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning musical Falsettos comes back to Broadway this fall in an all new production from Lincoln Center Theater. Block (The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Tony nom.), Christian Borle (Something Rotten!, Tony Award), Andrew Rannells (The Book of Mormon, Tony nom.), Anthony Rosenthal, Tracie Thoms, Brandon Uranowitz (An American in Paris, Tony nom.) and Betsy Wolfe.
Falsettos revolves around the life of a charming, intelligent, neurotic gay man named Marvin, his wife, lover, about-to-be-Bar-Mitzvahed son, their psychiatrist, and the lesbians next door. It’s a hilarious and achingly poignant look at the infinite possibilities that make up a modern family… and a beautiful reminder that love can tell a million stories.
Falsettos will begin preview performances on September 29, 2016, and open officially on October 27, 2016.
This is a limited engagement through January 8, 2017 on Broadway at the Walter Kerr Theatre.
