Hey Broadway Fans!
This past week has really been a busy time on Broadway, with new shows appearing, shows closing and some shows seeing their biggest stars take their final bows (We’ll miss you Lin!). There has been so much to keep up with so we are here to give you some of our favorite highlights from this past week. We’ve spent our fair share of time trolling the internet and finding some of the best videos of the Broadway stars of today making some quality videos. Take a look!
Broadway in Bryant Park is one of our favorite summer traditions here in the city. It’s the perfect way to get out for your lunch break and listen to the biggest Broadway stars sing their hit songs, all for free! Members of the cast of Wicked took the stage this past Thursday and sang some of the best tunes from the show. You have to hear this amazing rendition of “The Wizard and I” by Rachel Tucker, who is currently starring as Elphaba at the Gershwin!
Miranda and J-Lo
It was a big week for Hamilton star Lin-Manuel Miranda as he took his finals bows at the Richard Rodgers Theater this past Saturday. Two days later he took to the stage again, but this time with different collaborators. In honor of the release of their new single “Love Make the World Go Round,” a tribute to the victims of the recent shooting in Orlando, Jennifer Lopez and Lin-Manuel Miranda performed live on the Today Show’s Citi Concert Series. All the proceeds from the album will go towards benefitting the families of the victims. Take a listen to this incredibly moving performance!
One Last Time For Our Favorite Trio
Before performing for the last time as a trio, the original Schuyler Sisters of Broadway’s Hamilton came together to sing a rendition of Billy Joel’s “For the Longest Time.” Known for their impromptu vocal sessions and insanely perfect harmonies, the three Broadway stars made one last video before Phillipa Soo took her last bow on the Hamilton stage. She took her final bow along with Lin-Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr. and Ariana DeBose.
