Whether you’ve booked tickets for a matinee or an evening performance, chances are your group will want to enjoy a meal in the theatre district. While Broadway shows are certainly the main attraction, the theatre district also offers a plethora of entertaining stores, attractions, and eateries. What better way to top off your Broadway experience than with a visit to a unique themed restaurant? Our Geniuses have done some “research” (which meant A LOT of food but even more FUN!) and compiled a list of 3 dining experiences your group will simply love:
For the complete Broadway experience, your group must dine at Ellen’s Stardust Diner. On the exterior, Ellen’s looks like a classic, 1950s themed diner. However, once you walk in, you’ll notice that Ellen’s has “changed the tune” of the typical diner. Ellen’s is equipped with a supremely talented SINGING waitstaff known as the Stardusters. That’s right – your classic American cuisine will be served with a side of showtunes ranging from Broadway standards to songs from the hit musicals currently running on Broadway. In fact, your waiter or waitress might just be a future Tony Award winner. Ellen’s Stardust Diner has served as a launching pad for it’s singing waitstaff who have gone on to perform in Broadway musicals and touring companies, both international and domestic. Nostalgic memorabilia and retro 50’s decor make Ellen’s a diner you and your group will surely never forget.
Located at 1650 Broadway and directly next to the Winter Garden Theatre (currently home to School of Rock), Ellen’s is a convenient place to eat either before or after your show. Additionally, Ellen’s does offer group party packages. To learn more, contact email@example.com.
Is your group ready to rock?! Ready or not, Hard Rock Cafe is the #1 place to jam out over some burgers and classic American dishes. Located in the heart of Times Square, it’s hard to miss this totally cool restaurant with it’s iconic, electric guitar that can be seen even a few blocks away. The restaurant is decked out with an awe-inspiring collection of memorabilia from rock ‘n roll history. Your group might end up sitting next to a piece from rock legends such as The Beatles, Led Zepplin, and Elvis Presley. Likewise, feel free to dance around the dining hall to see costumes worn by music icons like Madonna and Gwen Stefani. Learn a little bit of New York City history by exploring memorabilia associated with NY based artists including Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, and John Lennon. Of course, your group’s delicious meal will be underscored with some of the most of memorable rock tunes in music history.
After your meal, be sure to check out the 1,800 square foot Rock Shop to pick up authentic Hard Rock merchandise as a souvenir from your experience. Located at 1501 Broadway and right near the Marquis Theatre, your group will love rockin’ out at this cafe in the center of Times Square. It’s super easy to reserve a table for your group directly on the Hard Rock Cafe website. A heads up that restaurant management suggests groups book a table two weeks in advance. Groups larger than 20 should contact NewYork_Rocks@hardrock.com.
Lights, Camera, Appetizers! Oops…sorry. We’re getting hungry. It’s Lights, Camera, Action on a satisfying meal for your group at Planet Hollywood. While we are clearly Broadway fanatics, the magic of Hollywood is absolutely a close second. Enjoy your delicious American fare while you also feast your eyes on memorabilia from some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters. Set in a large city-themed dining room, you’ll look up to see planes overhead from the movies Top Gun and Independence Day. And that’s just the beginning of this cinematic adventure! You’ll also see costumes and prop displays from movies ranging from Terminator to Austin Powers to Hunger Games. Every direction you look in features a different piece of movie magic. Enjoy “dinner and a movie” as one Hollywood blockbusters play on several surrounding screens.
Just like the Hard Rock Cafe, Planet Hollywood has a variety of merchandise for you choose to from once you’ve finished your meal. Located at 1540 Broadway and right near the Palace Theatre, you can walk right out of your Broadway show and into the history of Hollywood within minutes. You can book a group of up to 20 people directly on the website. Groups larger than 20 should contact Planet Hollywood’s Group Sales Team.
